Skriveri dendrological garden has the unique collection of Northern hemisphere tree species, important on the European scale. There are more than 300 species of trees growing in the park - and 30 of them are rare species, some of them even so rare that they aren't growing anywhere else in Europe or even whole Northern hemisphere. The park territory covers 16 ha, distributed in 19 floristic areas. Maximilian von Sivers (1857-1919), the owner of the Skriveri manor, planted the trees by growing them of seeds, harvested in their natural distribution areas from the whole world. He intended to create a park with more than 1000 species of trees but the World War I stopped his plans when there were 590 species planted. About half of them has survived until this day.
